If you need customer-specific B2B prices but not a sales-rep platform, you may not need SparkLayer. Native Shopify B2B, on Basic, Grow, and Advanced since April 2026, gives you up to three price catalogs at no extra cost, and a wholesale pricing app such as DiscountRay adds prices by customer, tag, company or customer list for $0 to $29 a month. Stay with SparkLayer if your reps place orders for customers, or you need quoting, AI order import, or a Xero or QuickBooks Online connection.
SparkLayer is a well-rated app (4.9 stars from 388 reviews), and for the right store it's worth the money. But its plans are priced by orders per month, and many merchants install it for one job: showing wholesale prices to the right buyers. This guide compares four other ways to do that job, what each one costs at your order volume, and what you'd give up if you switched.

Which SparkLayer alternative fits, by the job you need done.
Key takeaways
SparkLayer's paid plans are $49, $149, and $299 a month, and each one has an order cap: 50, 100, and 150 B2B orders a month. The free plan allows 5 orders and up to 3 price lists.
Native Shopify B2B now covers company profiles, payment terms, volume pricing, and up to three active catalogs on Basic, Grow, and Advanced. Assigning a catalog straight to one company still needs Shopify Plus.
DiscountRay sets B2B prices by customer, customer tag, company, or customer list, plus quantity tiers, without changing your base product prices. It has a free plan, and paid plans are $14 and $29 a month.
Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B is the most reviewed option here (751 reviews). Choose it for net terms, EU VAT ID checks, and multi-currency wholesale.
Wholesale Gorilla is built around approved wholesale accounts, with a quick order form and net terms on its $69.95 plan, and the longest free trial here (21 days).
DiscountRay, MultiVariants, and QuotWay together cover pricing, a bulk order table, and quotes for $26.99 to $87.99 a month, with no cap on orders.
None of the four replaces SparkLayer's sales-rep tools, quoting, or accounting sync. If you use those every week, staying may be the cheapest choice.
Why merchants look for SparkLayer alternatives
Most people who search for a SparkLayer alternative fall into one of three groups.
The pricing is by order volume. SparkLayer's plans are set by the number of B2B orders a month. Its pricing page says every order counts toward the limit, even if it's later cancelled or refunded. A store that grows from 40 to 60 wholesale orders a month moves past the Starter plan's 50-order cap.
They only use one feature. SparkLayer is a full B2B platform: a visual catalog, sales intelligence, an AI sales agent, rep ordering, quoting, and accounting links. If you mostly use it to show a wholesale price to logged-in buyers, you're paying for a lot you don't open.
Shopify caught up. On 2 April 2026, Shopify brought key B2B features to Basic, Grow and Advanced: company profiles, payment terms, volume pricing, ACH payments in the US and vaulted credit cards, at no extra cost (Shopify changelog). Some of what merchants used to need an app for is now built in.
If none of these is your situation, you may not need an alternative at all. That's a fair outcome, and we cover it below.
What SparkLayer costs in 2026
From SparkLayer's App Store listing and pricing page, as of 4 November 2026. Prices are per month in US dollars.
Plan | Price per month | B2B orders per month | Sales reps | Main things it adds |
Free | $0 | 5 | None | Up to 3 price lists, quick order and one-click reorder, volume breaks and pack sizes, application forms, net payment terms |
Starter | $49 | 50 | 1 | Unlimited B2B price lists, visual catalog, Pulse sales intelligence, Intelligent Cart AI order import |
Growth | $149 | 100 | 2 | Automatic invoices, advanced discounts, stock location support, order approvals, custom file uploads |
Pro | $299 | 150 | 5 | Quoting, Xero and QuickBooks Online, API access, workflow automations, test mode |
Enterprise | From $499 | Custom | Custom | Custom limits (from SparkLayer's pricing page) |
A few details are easy to miss. Quoting is included on Pro and costs $49 a month as an add-on on other plans. Extra sales reps are $39 a month each. Paid plans have a 14-day free trial and no contract. If you go past your order cap, SparkLayer says your store keeps working, and its team will contact you about whether another plan fits better.
To be fair to SparkLayer, its free plan is generous for a small wholesale side business: quick order, reorder, volume breaks, and net terms for up to 5 orders a month.

SparkLayer's monthly price at each order cap, November 2026.
What your order volume costs on each option
Here's what each option would cost a store at three common wholesale volumes. SparkLayer's price follows your order count. The other options' listings show no order caps, so their price follows the features you need instead.
Wholesale orders a month | SparkLayer plan that fits | Native Shopify B2B | DiscountRay | Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B | Wholesale Gorilla |
20 | Starter, $49 | $0 extra | $0 to $29 | $24.99 to $64.99 | $34.95 to $149.95 |
60 | Growth, $149 | $0 extra | $0 to $29 | $24.99 to $64.99 | $34.95 to $149.95 |
120 | Pro, $299 | $0 extra | $0 to $29 | $24.99 to $64.99 | $34.95 to $149.95 |
Ranges show the lowest and highest monthly plan. Which plan you need depends on features, not order count. Native B2B is included in your Shopify plan.
Example: a coffee roaster with 60 wholesale orders a month
This is a worked example, not a customer. A coffee roaster sells retail bags online and wholesale to 25 cafés. The cafés get one of two price levels, and the three biggest accounts have their own negotiated price. The roaster takes about 60 wholesale orders a month. Nobody on the team takes orders for cafés. Cafés order themselves, pay on net 30, and like a 5% break at 20 bags.
On SparkLayer, 60 orders a month is past Starter's 50-order cap, so the Growth plan ($149) fits. With native B2B, the two price levels can be two catalogs (each assigned to a B2B market the cafés belong to), and net 30 comes from Shopify's payment terms. The three negotiated prices are the problem: below Plus, a catalog can't be assigned to one company. A pricing app covers those three accounts. In DiscountRay, company-level pricing is on Pro ($29), and the 5% break at 20 bags is a quantity tier.
So the roaster's choice is roughly $149 a month for SparkLayer, or $29 a month for native B2B plus DiscountRay. If the team later hires a sales rep who takes orders by phone, that sum changes, and SparkLayer's rep tools are worth a fresh look.

How we compared these apps
We read each app's Shopify App Store listing on 4 November 2026 and used only the plans, prices and features shown there, plus SparkLayer's own pricing page for its Enterprise plan, add-ons and order-cap policy. For native Shopify B2B, we used Shopify's Help Center and changelog. We didn't count review scores as proof that an app fits your store. We picked these four because they cover the four jobs merchants most often use SparkLayer for: set prices, per-customer prices, international wholesale, and a login-only wholesale area. Prices change, so check each listing before you decide.
Option 1: Native Shopify B2B
Start here, because it costs nothing extra and it may be all you need.
What you get on Basic, Grow, and Advanced. Since 2 April 2026: company profiles, payment terms (net terms, payment reminders, ACH in the US and vaulted cards), volume pricing and quantity rules (Shopify Help Center). Quantity rules cover a minimum, a maximum, and an increment, and you can set up to 10 price breaks per product.
Where it stops below Plus.
Three catalog assignments. On Basic, Grow, and Advanced, you can have up to 3 active catalog assignments across your B2B markets. The same catalog in 2 markets uses 2 of the 3.
Catalogs go to markets, not companies. Shopify says direct catalog assignment to a company or company location isn't available on Basic, Grow, or Advanced. So two companies in the same B2B market see the same prices.
Unlimited catalogs for customer-specific pricing are Plus only, as are deposits and partial payments.
Rules and price breaks are per variant. Shopify's Help Center says customers can't combine variants to meet a rule, and volume pricing works the same way.
Choose it if you have three or fewer price groups (for example, retail, trade, and distributor), you don't need a different price for each company, and your buyers order one variant at a time. Our comparison of Shopify B2B volume pricing vs DiscountRay shows where native pricing stops in more detail.

How native B2B catalogs work below Plus, and what Plus adds.
Option 2: DiscountRay
DiscountRay is our app, so read this section with that in mind. We've kept to what its App Store listing and pricing page say.
What it does. DiscountRay sets B2B prices by customer, company, customer group, tag or list, and adds quantity breaks and tiered pricing. The listing says it does this "without changing base product prices", so your retail prices stay as they are and the right buyer sees their price. It applies discounts automatically, and since March 2026 you can choose whether each DiscountRay discount combines with Shopify discounts, other apps' discounts, or other DiscountRay discounts (DiscountRay changelog).
What each plan adds. From the App Store listing, as of 4 November 2026:
Plan | Price per month | B2B pricing features |
Starter | Free | Quantity discounts and tiered pricing, unlimited automatic discounts, discount table and list view, for all customers |
Growth | $14 | B2B pricing by customer groups and tags, variant-specific discounts, bulk and personalized discount codes, scheduled discounts |
Pro | $29 | B2B pricing by company and customer list, targeting by country, cart value and items, order history targeting, domain-based pricing |
Paid plans have a 14-day free trial, and annual billing saves 20%. If you want an order form too, DiscountRay works with our MultiVariants bulk order app, so tier prices show in a size or variant table.

Company-specific pricing in DiscountRay, with the company chosen in the rule.
What it won't do. DiscountRay is a pricing app. It doesn't give your reps an app to order for customers; it doesn't turn an emailed spreadsheet into an order, and it doesn't build quotes, send invoices, or connect to Xero or QuickBooks. Its listing doesn't include wholesale sign-up forms or net terms either. For net terms, use Shopify B2B's payment terms. For quotes, see the pairing section below.
Choose it if you need different prices for specific customers, companies, or tags, you want volume tiers on top, and you'd rather pay $0 to $29 a month than an order-based plan. Our post on Shopify wholesale pricing problems covers how to set those rules up so they don't clash.

Option 3: Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B
This is the most reviewed app in this comparison: 4.9 stars from 751 reviews, on the App Store since April 2018, made by Wholesale Helper and with the Built for Shopify badge.
What it does. Its plans go up in four steps. Basic ($24.99) gives unlimited customer and tag groups, percentage discounts, order minimums per group, and up to 3 volume discount rules. Professional ($44.99) adds variant-level custom pricing, a sign-up form with an EU VAT ID check, manual and draft orders, and net 15, 30, and 60 terms. Enterprise ($49.99) adds unlimited volume discounts, CSV import and export of prices, per-customer price overrides, and discount groups by B2B company profile. Global ($64.99) adds multi-currency wholesale prices, Shopify Markets support, tax display options, automatic tax exemption for valid EU VAT IDs, and wholesale prices on Shopify POS.
What to watch. There's no free plan, and the trial is 10 days. Several features you might expect at the start, such as net terms, are on the second plan.
Choose it if you sell wholesale in several currencies or across the EU, you need VAT ID checks at sign-up, or you want wholesale prices at the counter on POS.
Option 4: Wholesale Gorilla
Wholesale Gorilla has 4.8 stars from 320 reviews and has been on the App Store since September 2018. Its listing doesn't show the Built for Shopify badge.
What it does. It's built around approved wholesale accounts: buyers register, and once approved, they see their prices. Lite ($34.95) gives unlimited price rules and customer price groups, a basic registration form, and manual orders. Advanced ($69.95) adds a quick order form, wholesale shipping rules, net terms, hidden products, discount codes, order limits, and CSV price upload. Premium ($149.95) adds volume discounts, store and page locks, payment terms, a custom sign-up form, and priority support.
What to watch. There's no free plan, and volume discounts are on the top plan. Its 21-day free trial is the longest here, which helps if you want to test a full wholesale flow before paying.
Choose it if you want a separate, login-only wholesale area with an order form, and you don't need multi-currency.
Feature by feature: what you keep and what you lose
This is the table to read before you cancel anything. "Not listed" means we didn't find it on the app's listing, not that it can't be done another way.
Feature | SparkLayer | Native Shopify B2B (below Plus) | DiscountRay | Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B | Wholesale Gorilla |
Prices for a specific customer or company | Unlimited price lists (Starter and up) | No; up to 3 catalogs by market | Yes: customer and tag (Growth), company and list (Pro) | Yes: per-customer overrides (Enterprise) | Yes: customer price groups (Lite) |
Volume or quantity tiers | Yes (Free) | Yes, per variant | Yes (Free) | Up to 3 rules (Basic), unlimited (Enterprise) | Yes (Premium) |
Net payment terms | Yes (Free) | Yes | No; use Shopify B2B | Yes (Professional) | Yes (Advanced) |
Quick order form | Yes (Free) | Check your theme | No; pair with an order form app | Not listed | Yes (Advanced) |
Reps ordering for customers | Yes (Starter and up) | Draft orders only | No | Manual and draft orders (Professional) | Manual orders (Lite) |
Quoting | Pro, or $49 add-on | No | No | Not listed | Not listed |
AI order import from email or spreadsheet | Yes (Starter and up) | No | No | Not listed | Not listed |
Xero or QuickBooks Online | Yes (Pro) | No | No | Not listed | Not listed |
Monthly order cap | 5, 50, 100 or 150 | None | None listed | None listed | None listed |
Free plan | Yes | Included in your plan | Yes | No | No |
If your team ticks "yes, we use it weekly" for anything in the quoting, rep or accounting rows, factor in the cost of replacing that job before you compare prices.
The closest match to SparkLayer: pricing, order form and quotes together
No single app in this list does everything SparkLayer does. But if you use SparkLayer for more than prices, you can cover its three most-used jobs with three small apps. We make all three, so weigh this with that in mind.
SparkLayer job | App that covers it | Plan and price per month |
Prices per customer, tag, company, or list, plus volume tiers | DiscountRay | Growth $14 (tags and customer groups) or Pro $29 (companies and customer lists) |
A bulk order table with a quantity box for every variant, showing B2B catalog prices | MultiVariants | Standard $12.99, or Professional $29.99 for minimums and file upload |
Quote requests and counter-offers that become a draft order | QuotWay | Free for 10 quotes a month, or Starter $29 for 200 |
Net terms and invoices | Shopify B2B and draft orders | Included in your Shopify plan |
That's $26.99 to $87.99 a month in total. None of the three listings caps your orders. QuotWay's plans limit quotes, not orders. SparkLayer's Growth plan, which a store with 60 orders a month needs, is $149.
Be clear about what this set doesn't cover. There's no app for reps to order on the go, no AI order import from email, no automatic invoices or order approval flow, and no Xero or QuickBooks sync. MultiVariants' table sits on each product page, so it isn't a single page listing your whole catalog. If you use those SparkLayer features every week, the set won't replace them.
If you need a full B2B platform. If your buyers expect one wholesale portal with a catalog, reps, and accounting in one place, stay with SparkLayer or compare other full platforms. The four options above are pricing tools first.
Our guide to custom pricing rules for wholesale shows how to plan the pricing side.
How to switch from SparkLayer without breaking orders
If you decide to move, take it in this order. It keeps buyers ordering at the right price the whole time.
Write down every price list. For each SparkLayer price list, note who gets it, the price or percentage, and any volume breaks.
Map each list to a rule. A small number of groups can become native B2B catalogs. Prices for named companies, tags, or customer lists become DiscountRay (or other app) rules.
Decide where every other job goes. Net terms, order form, quotes, invoices, and approvals. Use the table above.
Build the new rules while SparkLayer is still on. Set them up, but don't show them to buyers yet.
Test with a real buyer account. Log in as a test B2B customer, check the product page price, the cart and checkout, and make sure discounts combine the way you expect.
Tell your buyers what changes. If the reorder or order form moves, send a short note with the new link before the switch.
Switch on a quiet day, then uninstall. Turn on the new rules, check the first few real orders, then uninstall SparkLayer. Remember that orders placed while it's installed still count toward its cap.
Check your theme afterwards. Make sure no old app blocks or price displays are left on product pages.
Mistakes to avoid when you switch
Comparing only the monthly price. Add up what you'd need to replace. A $0 option plus a quote app plus an order form can still cost less than SparkLayer, but sometimes it doesn't.
Setting the same rule in two places. If a native catalog and an app rule both give a café 10% off, buyers may see the wrong price, or two discounts. Pick one home for each price.
Forgetting how discounts combine. Decide whether wholesale prices should stack with your BFCM codes. In DiscountRay, you set this per discount. Our guide to Shopify discount stacking explains the options.
Not testing as a buyer. Your admin view isn't what a logged-in café sees. Test with a real B2B customer account.
Switching in your busiest week. Move in a quiet week, not during a holiday wholesale push.
Which one to pick
Three or fewer price groups, no reps: native Shopify B2B.
Prices per customer, company or tag, plus volume tiers, on a budget: DiscountRay.
EU or multi-currency wholesale with net terms and VAT checks: Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B.
A login-only wholesale area with a quick order form: Wholesale Gorilla.
Prices, a bulk order table and quotes, with no cap on orders: DiscountRay, MultiVariants and QuotWay together.
Reps who order for customers, quoting, AI order import and accounting sync: stay with SparkLayer.
Try DiscountRay free on the Shopify App Store
Finally...
SparkLayer is a strong B2B platform, and it's priced like one: by order volume, with reps, quoting, and accounting on the higher plans. If what you really need is the right price for the right buyer, native Shopify B2B or a pricing app does that job for less. Make the list of jobs you use SparkLayer for each week first. The cheapest option is the one that covers that list.
